| Chapter 6. Evidences of Design Intelligent Design Characteristic Number 4. Multiple uses of a Common Element. Another characteristic of good design is to use a single object for many functions. The observance of many structures in a living organism having multiple functions is evidence of an Intelligent Designer. An extreme example of this is the structure of the genetic code, where many different enzymes can be made from the same gene, depending on how gene segments between interons are assembled.
