| Issues From Science That Point To A Creator God By Timothy R. Stout, B.S. Physics |
| Science cannot explain how life started. Wherever ones looks concerning the origin of life, he finds fatal roadblocks. It only takes one fatal roadblock to prevent a purely natural origin of life from ever actually occurring. Thus, the combined effects of roadblock after roadblock after roadblock becomes overwhelming. In this pamphlet we will discuss over 20 of these roadblocks. They are based on solid evidences from scientific observation. They range from the reasons that origin-of-life experiments always make more tar than anything else, to the laws of chemical equilibrium, to the statistical odds against getting a useful sequence, to chiral instabilities, to the impossibility of changing one amino acid into an unrelated one, one amino acid at a time, with a selection advantage every step of the way. Actually, this latter issue is fatal not only to a purely natural origin of life, but also to evolution in general. If new enzymes cannot be formed by gradual changes, there is no mechanism for evolution at any level. Evolutionary theory is founded on the sufficiency of natural selection to provide the creativity to produce new forms to meet new needs. However, there are six obvious, major limitations to natural selection that render it impotent to be a major source of evolution. We will discuss these six issues. By contrast, living things give the appearance of design. Modern society is characterized by technological advances which are implemented by design engineers. A computer does not just happen, it is the result of intelligent design. It is the combined effects of science demonstrating that it is impossible for life to start spontaneously through the laws of nature plus the observation that living things appear to have been designed that point so clearly to the existence and action of a Living Creator God. We will study five characteristics of design exhibited by living systems. Not only does the creation point to a Creator, but we can learn things about the Creator from looking at the creation. His wisdom, His power to work miracles, His will to make decisions, His personality including the appreciation of beauty are among these. Finally, the Bible reveals that the Creator has willed that He will not give His glory to another. From His perspective, attributing life to natural causes and not giving Him the honor due Him as Creator is sin. There is a guilt and a judgment associated with believing and teaching evolution. Yet, God in His love for us has also provided a means of forgiveness of this and other sins as well as a release from the penalty. This is found in the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. God gave us a basis for recognizing the truth in the message of forgiveness by telling us exactly what Christ was going to do, why He was going to do it, and when He was going to do it. He told us these things in various prophecies which were written many hundreds of years before Christ was born. The fact that God revealed what He was going to do and that then He had the power to do what He said He would gives us a solid basis for our confidence that the things concerning Christ are true.
